This Is The Intermediate Guide In Toto Asia

The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding its production facilities abroad and doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the People's Republic of China. Toto believed that North America as a growth market for Washlet bidets and toilets, as opposed to its "base" markets of Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto recorded Toto words to ensure that the future generation could understand the words. However, many of the words were replaced with foreign ones, like dui from Bengali for verandah.

Origins

Toto's early history that began in 1917, mirrored Japan's economic growth. In the first half of its existence, the company made products to meet the demands of modern and contemporary urban housing. To achieve this, it employed the country's first tunnel kiln to make ceramics in continuous flow. It also pioneered the use of automation for production control, allowing greater efficiency and consistency.

In the late 1980s, the company began expanding overseas in order to benefit from sales and new markets. The company established the Cera Trading Company to import and market other manufacturers' products to complement its own range of sanitary earthenwares and plumbing fittings. This strategy helped increase sales and expand the company's market share in the world.

In the 1990s Toto began to focus on research and development for water-related appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better serve the needs of its customers and boost profits. The company implemented a just-in-time approach to supply chain management and applied the same approach for its sales process. This resulted in a greater degree of customer satisfaction.

Toto has continued to innovate with regard to toilet technology. Its latest toilet, for instance is equipped with a powerful tornado flush that is more environmentally friendly than conventional toilets. The company uses recycled water for its manufacturing process and has a green buying policy. Apart from toilets, Toto manufactures bathtubs and faucets, as well as hand dryers that are more energy efficient than typical models.

The first Toto museum opened in the year 2015. It hosts exhibits on Toto’s seminal products and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are made from ceramics) as well as the history of plumbing, and other products like bath units. In an additional gallery, you can view Toto products that are sold throughout. The museum also has a bathroom that features the WASHLET toilet, as well as other toilet-related innovations.

Before forming Toto members of the group performed sessions for a variety of musicians. Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich and guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather and drummers Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also played on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

With a name like Asia you'd expect the group to be prog kings and queens however, it's actually a fairly simple rock group. The band started out as a quartet and recorded two albums - 1979's self titled debut, and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. The group has a diverse musical background but their biggest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a huge blockbuster, however it did not come without its own set of issues. The record companies placed the band under pressure to release the top single or they would drop the album. Toto was able to achieve this feat with the help of the hit song "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their previous experience, as the band members had been session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts prior to forming the group. Their sonic signature has become the norm for '80s pop, influencing many contemporary artists.

This album starts off hard with songs like Running Out of Time and Unknown Soldier showcasing the bands ability to write fantastic AOR songs that slowly work their hooks into you. However, the album also includes some more mellow, jazzy tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album concludes with Great Expectations, a song that mixes folk with distorted AOR and could sound totally wrong, but works amazingly well.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes started to plummet. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career. The band had several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the band in aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the group continued to perform as a trio, which included Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.

Despite the chaos, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation, which was not as successful as IV. The band managed to release an album that was chart-topping, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked the conclusion of the original Toto lineup and was the first to feature a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet arrangement of previous albums. It was a more ferocious, consistent effort with a harder edge than Hydra. The edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball's growing proficiency was evident in the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard skills were also more sophisticated, sharper and less akin to earlier efforts.

After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live performance in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released their new studio album just a few months after, and went on a world tour to promote the album. During this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich and Lukather started looking through old demos and tapes in search of an album that would feature songs that had never been recorded before. The album was released in 2001 as a double album titled Then & Now. It was the first album by the band without one single track titled "A". The album also included a previously unreleased track called "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure, and vocalist Williams was suffering from a severe case of laryngitis which limited his singing capabilities. In addition, Hungate returned to Nashville, while drummer Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.

Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia The original Asia members met in England early in 2006 to discuss the possibility that the band could be revived. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was working with Yes at the time), eventually became known as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also had an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
